Where Function Meets Elegance

Renewed Joy: Kitchen Remodel In Plymouth, MI

Tony and Garret are exceptionally detail-oriented and professional. They handled enormous 48” x 24” tiles — difficult and heavy — and turned them into a stunning, cohesive design. They kept the job site immaculate, laying foam walkways through our home and vacuuming daily.

They finished on time and exactly on budget, which speaks volumes about their integrity and skill. The craftsmanship and care they bring to the job are outstanding. We’re already planning to hire them again for our powder room remodel. We highly recommend Angry Cat Contracting for any bathroom renovation.

The 3-Phase Process

Turning Frances Vision Into Reality

1.

DESIGN

Designing Fran’s Dream Kitchen: A Collaborative Transformation

Fran’s kitchen remodel began with a thoughtful design process, guided by Project Manager Tony Prough and shaped through close collaboration. Together, they brought Fran’s vision to life—creating a space that blends warmth, beauty, and everyday functionality. Key design elements include:

  • Two-Toned Custom Cabinets
The kitchen features natural-finish base cabinets paired with classic white shaker-style uppers, creating a clean yet grounded look. Soft-close hardware adds a refined touch, while lower drawers maximize accessibility and storage.

  • Quartz Countertops
Chosen for their sleek, polished appearance and low-maintenance surface, the quartz countertops complement the two-toned cabinetry and enhance the kitchen’s modern appeal.

  • Layered Tile Backsplash
The backsplash is a true statement piece, combining classic white subway tile with blue accent tile, blue pencil trim, and handcrafted tiles from Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. This mix adds texture, color, and artistry, giving the kitchen a distinctive and personal feel.

  • Custom Wainscoting
Thoughtfully designed wainscoting adds architectural interest and a tailored finish to the space. It ties in seamlessly with the cabinetry and elevates the room’s overall character.

  • Stainless Steel Fixtures and Appliances
Durable and easy to maintain, the stainless steel elements complete the look with a cohesive, contemporary finish.

This 3D kitchen rendering showcases a custom layout using Lily Ann Cabinets, combining natural wood base cabinetry with sleek white upper cabinets for a modern two-tone look. A marble-look backsplash and countertop add elegance and contrast, while the built-in tall pantry cabinet maximizes storage. The design centers around a large window and stainless steel under-mount sink, creating a bright and functional workspace.
This detailed elevation drawing illustrates the cabinet configuration for a custom kitchen design using Lily Ann Cabinets. The layout includes a combination of base, wall, and tall pantry cabinets with specific model numbers labeled for reference. A centered sink base cabinet (SB24) sits below a window, flanked by a dishwasher and drawer base (DB30-3). Upper white wall cabinets (WFW1242-L, W12WF342, W3042) contrast with natural wood base units and tall pantry cabinets (UPLY2496) to create a balanced, functional workspace.
This photo captures the kitchen during the rough-in and framing stage of a full remodel in Wayne County, Michigan. The space has been fully gutted to the studs, with insulation installed in the walls and ceiling. Electrical wiring and outlet boxes are in place, and new hardwood flooring is staged for installation. This phase marks the structural prep before drywall and cabinetry are added.
This in-progress shot shows the kitchen remodel during the subfloor repair and hardwood installation phase. The room remains fully framed with exposed insulation and electrical rough-ins, while hardwood planks are being laid over the original diagonal plank subfloor. A temporary plastic barrier separates the work zone from the rest of the home, containing dust and maintaining site cleanliness.

BUILD

A Bathroom Built for Comfort, Function, and Timeless Style

The build phase of Fran’s bathroom remodel was completed in just two weeks under the careful supervision of owner Tony Prough. His hands-on approach—marked by daily site visits and detailed progress tracking—ensured the project stayed on schedule and met Angry Cat Contracting’s exacting standards. This attentive oversight also allowed for on-the-fly solutions, such as addressing unexpected subfloor repairs without delay.

Functionality was at the heart of the design, with key ergonomic upgrades to enhance everyday comfort and accessibility:

  • Elevated Cabinetry
Installed at a higher-than-standard height to minimize bending and improve ease of use.

  • Chair-Height Toilet
Chosen for comfort and accessibility, offering a practical improvement without compromising style.

  • Spacious Walk-In Shower
Replacing the dated tub/shower combo, the new walk-in shower offers both elegance and ease of access.

These thoughtful features were seamlessly integrated into the design, enhancing both the look and livability of the space. The finished result reflects Angry Cat Contracting’s commitment to blending beauty with purposeful design.

3.

What The Homeowner Had To Say About Working With Angry Cat

Angry Cat Construction is absolutely amazing! To say we were pleased with the outcome of our kitchen is putting it mildly. We were ecstatic! They took the imperfections of a 1941 bungalow kitchen to the studs and created an exquisite modern kitchen without any squeaks, misalignments or cracks to name a few.
Not only are Tony and Garrett men of honesty and integrity - they are both extremely creative. If you have a design question they are great at helping you think through it. Tony is amazing at his pre-design presentation and cost summary. Nothing was hidden or added on to the original w/o communication with us first. Tony and Garrett are both talented and men of their words. We could not have asked for a better construction company to work with. Definitely a 10 star performance!
